Meet Chris
Chris enjoys helping students develop genuine understanding rather than simply getting through an assignment. He finds it especially rewarding to see students become more confident as difficult concepts begin to make sense.
With experience in teaching, coaching and financial advising, Chris brings patience, structure and strong goal-setting skills to his sessions. He enjoys the critical thinking involved in mathematics and showing students that there can be more than one effective way to reach the correct answer.
What Sessions with Chris Are Like
Chris begins by asking students what they find interesting and challenging so he can understand their needs while keeping the conversation comfortable and positive. Before introducing a new concept, he checks that the necessary foundational skills are in place.
Chris models different ways to approach a problem before supporting students as they try it independently.
Education & Experience
Chris holds a Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina. He brings three years of classroom teaching experience and four years of tutoring experience to his sessions.
Chris also has ten years of basketball coaching experience and previously worked as an advisor with RBC. Together, these roles have strengthened his ability to build trust, adapt his approach and help students set meaningful, measurable goals.
Beyond Tutoring
Outside of teaching and tutoring, Chris enjoys basketball, reading, cooking, fishing and spending time with his family. He has travelled to four continents, enjoys music from the 1970s and 1980s and has a miniature dachshund at home. He is also currently learning how to crochet!
