Meet Sarah
Sarah was the first tutor to join Foothills Tutoring and has been tutoring since 2023. She enjoys setting meaningful goals with her students and helping them recognize the progress they make throughout the semester.
For Sarah, watching students accomplish their goals is especially rewarding because each success helps build confidence and encourages them to take greater ownership of their learning.
What Sessions with Sarah Are Like
Sarah begins by discussing what the student wants to accomplish and identifying the skills or concepts that need the most attention. She then breaks larger goals into manageable steps that can be worked on throughout each session.
Sessions may focus on strengthening foundational knowledge, reviewing current coursework or preparing for assessments. Sarah regularly checks progress so students can see their improvement and understand what they should focus on next.
Education & Experience
Sarah is completing an Honours degree in Immunology and Infection at the University of Alberta and hopes to pursue a Doctor of Medicine. She graduated as the valedictorian of her high school and is currently an Honour Roll student at the University of Alberta.
Sarah works in an immunology laboratory and is involved in research examining cell death in the brain. Her experience also includes mentoring first-year science students, leading programming for Autism Edmonton and volunteering with the Steadward Centre’s adapted physical-activity programs.
Beyond Tutoring
Sarah grew up on a farm with cows, horses and donkeys. In her free time, she enjoys staying active and reading.
