Meet Ruben
Ruben enjoys helping students develop the foundational knowledge, problem-solving skills and intuitive understanding needed to approach challenging material. Throughout high school and university, he frequently helped his brother and classmates work through difficult assignments, problem sets and new concepts.
He believes tutoring is most effective when it connects directly to the student’s goals—whether they are preparing for university, strengthening their overall understanding or working toward success in a required course.
What Sessions with Ruben Are Like
Ruben adapts his approach according to what the student hopes to achieve. For students planning to continue in math or science, he emphasizes strong foundations, intuition and flexible problem-solving skills. For students focused on completing a required course, he provides clear procedures, practical strategies and organized steps they can apply to assignments and exams.
Ruben also helps students see how current concepts connect to more advanced material, while keeping explanations focused enough that they do not feel overwhelmed.
Education & Experience
Ruben is a second-year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of British Columbia Okanagan and hopes to pursue a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Ruben has also volunteered at a children’s firefighter camp, where he helped coordinate activities and guide participants through challenges.
Beyond Tutoring
Ruben speaks Afrikaans and loves travelling. He also enjoys skiing every winter!
