Meet Jess
Jess enjoys helping students feel more at ease and in control of their learning. She understands that schoolwork can become stressful when concepts feel unclear, so she works to create a welcoming environment where students can ask questions and approach challenges one step at a time.
With three years of tutoring experience, Jess also values the connections she forms with her students and enjoys helping each learner recognize their own progress.
What Sessions with Jess Are Like
Jess tailors sessions to the student’s current needs, whether they are strengthening foundational skills, reviewing classroom material or preparing for an assessment. She breaks challenging concepts into manageable steps, checks for understanding and gives students opportunities to practise with support.
Her goal is to reduce the pressure surrounding difficult coursework while helping students develop useful strategies and greater independence in their learning.
Education & Experience
Jess is studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary and is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field or completing a master’s degree in health sciences. She especially enjoys biology and chemistry.
In addition to three years of tutoring experience, Jess has worked as a babysitter and server. She has also volunteered with dog rescues and the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Beyond Tutoring
Jess is grateful for her wonderful family and friends. In her free time, she enjoys basketball, volleyball, hiking, movies and spending time outdoors—especially boating, fishing and camping.
