Meet Lauryn
Lauryn’s favourite part of tutoring is getting to know her students and understanding how they view the material. She enjoys discovering how different students learn and finding explanations that connect with their individual perspectives.
With three years of tutoring experience, Lauryn believes that teaching is also one of the best ways to continue learning. Helping students work through academic challenges strengthens her own understanding while allowing her to make a meaningful difference in their progress.
What Sessions with Lauryn Are Like
Lauryn uses the first session to identify the student’s strengths, learning gaps and current goals. She then prepares an agenda for future sessions, including lessons and practice activities that complement what the student is learning in class.
Her sessions balance understanding with application. Lauryn may use review worksheets, summary notes, guided conversations and teach-back activities, where students explain a concept in their own words. She is patient and willing to spend additional time on a skill when a student needs it.
Education & Experience
Lauryn is a Grade 12 student at Holy Trinity Academy and plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences. She has consistently earned High Honours and was selected as valedictorian of her middle school graduating class.
Lauryn has three years of tutoring experience with students across several grade levels. She has also worked at COBS Bread and as a data collection technician, and has volunteered as a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor.
Beyond Tutoring
Lauryn enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with her dogs. She has also studied piano and participated in competitive dance. A fun fact about Lauryn is that she has cared for her pet tortoise for eight years!
